Seminar & Forum 6th 10+3 Media Cooperation Forum held in Kunming, China 2013.12.06

On December 6, 2013, more than 200 representatives from 45 newspapers, television stations and news agencies in the ASEAN and Plus Three countries attended the Sixth 10+3 Media Cooperation Forum held by the People’s Daily of China, in Kunming of Yunnan.


President of the People's Daily Mr. ZHANG Yannong, Governor of Yunnan Province Mr. LI Jiheng, Deputy Secretary-General of the ASEAN Secretariat Dr. Mochtan Achmad Kurnia Prawira, media representatives and officials from 10+3 countries have attended the Forum and delivered remarks. Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) participated in the Forum for the first time and briefed the delegates on the progress of the trilateral cooperation and TCS itself.


Under the theme of “Chinese Dream, Asian Dream”, the media representatives held in-depth discussion on various topics including “Media’s Role: Positive Energy and a New Harmonious Asia”, “Asia’s Voice: Local Perspective and Global Vision” and “Yunnan in the ‘Asian Century’: Gateway to Opportunities and Win-win Development”. They agreed on the responsibilities of the media in presenting accurate and rational reports, in order to create a favorable environment for enhancing the mutual trust and understanding of Asia. They also agreed to strengthen the media cooperation among Asian countries to expand the international influence of the region.


Before the Forum, Secretary of the CPC Yunan Provincial Committee Mr. QIN Guangrong held a meeting with the participants, introducing the cooperation progress of Yunnan province with ASEAN Plus Three countries, expecting to further strengthen exchanges, achieving mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.


The Forum has been hosted by the People’s Daily of China annually since 2007, inviting representatives from mainstream media organizations from ASEAN and Plus Three countries to enhance exchanges among the mass media of East Asia.
