On September 29, TCS Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang attended the International Disaster Resilience Leaders Forum Incheon 2025 (IDRLF Incheon 2025) and delivered congratulatory remarks during the opening session. This significant annual forum, organized by the Incheon Metropolitan City, the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), and the Incheon Institute. The forum serves as a vital platform for exchanging knowledge and strategies on disaster risk reduction (DRR). This year’s theme, “Strengthening Global Cooperation on Disaster Risk Reduction for a Sustainable Future,” underscores the importance of collaborative approaches to building resilient communities worldwide.
In his address, DSG YAN emphasized the importance of both regional and global cooperation in disaster risk reduction, noting East Asia’s particular vulnerability to natural disasters. He also referred to last year’s 9th Trilateral Summit in Seoul, where leaders highlighted “Disaster Relief and Safety” as a key priority. Furthermore, he underscored TCS’s commitment to translating these pledges into concrete actions and, through the “Trilateral + X” framework, extending the benefits beyond the three member countries. As examples, TCS presented initiatives in collaboration with UNDRR, including the Inter-Regional Dialogue and a special session at the 19th Symposium on Disaster Mitigation for Cultural Heritage and Historical Cities.
The two-day event builds up a bridge for the experts from Asia, America and Africa, discussing ways to accelerate international cooperation for the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) 2015–2030.
